Cancer Council WA is organising a new webinar providing updated information about colonoscopies, within the context of General Practice. The Webinar will answer questions like:
When are colonoscopies appropriate, when they are not and what are some alternative options available to GPs.
The webinar is part of Cancer Council’s General Practice Cancer Education program. The free online event is aimed at General Practitioners and other health care professionals, and is led by Dr Muna Salama, Gastroenterologist, Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital.
The Webinar will take place on Wednesday, 23 June, between 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM AWST.
What to expect?
According to the Webinar announcement, participant of this online event should expect to learn how to:
- Describe the efficacy of the iFOBT as a useful tool for screening average risk population.
- State the guidelines concerning referrals for colonoscopy.
- Determine the appropriate role for use of surveillance colonoscopies in patients aged 74 years or older.
- Contrast the risks and benefits of colorectal cancer screening modalities on offer in WA.
