Managing gaming disorder in a GP clinic

A 12-year-old boy presents to his GP with escalating behavioural difficulties around technology use and gaming.

He has a background of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), combined-type ADHD, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), generalised anxiety disorder and intellectual disability.

This is not an unusual case for a GP. Gaming disorder is frequently recognised in this population and itโ€™s something GPs are increasingly seeing in their clinics, Dr Andrew Leech told Medical Forum.
