Fancy being in a medical board?

Nominations are now open for WA health professionals to join two important medical boards.


In a recent announcement, WA’s Health Department invited medical professionals living in WA to send a nomination to join two major boards:

  • WA Board of the Medical Board of Australia (WA MBA) – Practitioner and community member nominations.
  • NT/SA/WA Regional Board of the Psychology Board of Australia (NT/SA/WA Regional Psychology Board).

Nominations for these roles should include an updated curriculum vitae (CV) with contact details, date of birth, current occupation and any qualifications and any relevant experience. Details of two referees should also be included. In total, the CV should not exceed four pages.

In addition, applicants should send a cover letter specifying the board they are applying for, and how they meet the eligibility requirements. In total, the cover letter should not exceed three pages.

The key requirements to join these boards are outlined below, as presented by WA Health Department.

  • “To be eligible for appointment as a practitioner member, the applicant must be a registered health practitioner in the health profession for which the board is established.
  • To be eligible for appointment as a community member, the applicant must not currently, or have previously been, a registered health practitioner in the health profession for which the board is established.
  • Practitioner members should bring sound experience in the health profession for which the board is established and will have an appreciation and understanding of the role of the board.
  • Community members should bring sound community perspectives to the regulation of health practitioners”.
