How to age well: insights from 25 years of research

Next month, Prof Leon Flicker will talk about the ‘Health in Men Study’, a project that seeks to understand the effect of abdominal aortic aneurysm screening in men’s health.

The Health in Men Study (HIMS) is a population-based randomised controlled trial that aims to investigate the effect of abdominal aortic aneurysm screening in men’s health. The study, started in 1996, has been tracking the health of nearly 20,000 men over the age of 65, assessing their health every 3-5 years. Today, the HIMS project has been the basis of more than 250 research papers on topics like cardiovascular disease, frailty and successful ageing, among many others. The study has also helped promote changes in health practice.

On the 25th Anniversary of the HIMS study, lead researcher Prof Leon Flicker will talk about this project, his plans for the future and address any questions.
