Every doctor spends their career sitting in the clinicianโ€™s chair. Far fewer are prepared for the moment they must sit in the patientโ€™s chair.

The primary parable for empathy is โ€œto walk in the patientโ€™s shoesโ€. It is also part of good medical practice to manage oneโ€™s own health and have oneโ€™s own doctor, so access to GPs for doctors is crucial.
