Writing workshop for doctors

Fancy getting your feet into the realms of publishing? This new workshop will get you started.

We all have a story to tell, and as a doctor you probably have some interesting stories to share about your views, or your practice.

Publishing a news article on mainstream media is a major challenge for a lot of people. But this writing workshop will get you started on the right path.

The “Writing Workshop for Doctors” event will take place online, on 4 November at 3.30pm WST. The idea, according to organisers, is to create an opportunity for doctors (and people who write for doctor audiences) to meet the editors and learn a little about how to engage with the media and how to pitch story ideas.

Who will be presenting?
The workshop will be led by:

  • Professor Nick Talley, Editor-in-Chief, Medical Journal of Australia
  • Dr Linda Calabresi, Editor-In-Chief, The Medical Republic
  • Penny Durham, Editor, The Medical Republic
  • Dr Justin Coleman, GP-writer and former President of the Australasian Medical Writers Association

The event will be moderated by Bianca Nogrady, science writer and President of the Science Journalist Association of Australia

Interested?
If you or any of your colleagues/contacts are interested in attending, you can register here. The event will take place on 4 November at 3.30pm WST. A recording will also be available after the event and will be sent to anyone who registered.
