Diabetes Upskilling seminar: Physical Activity

The National Diabetes Services Scheme is offering this update on Physical Activity guidelines, aimed at health professionals.


Hosted by Diabetes WA, this online session aims to provide GPs and other health professionals with an update about general physical activity recommendations and guidelines for people with diabetes.

In WA there are about 128,000 people currently diagnosed with some form of diabetes and nationally, about 282 people are diagnosed with this condition every day. Poor management of diabetes can lead to serious complications, including heart attacks and stroke, eye damage, kidney damage, nerve damage and foot complications, tooth decay, sexual dysfunction, and depression.

Having a physically active lifestyle is an easy and effective way to prevent or manage some of these complications.

The webinar will inform participants on the best ways to support patients with diabetes to become more confidently active.
