Paediatric Masterclass for General Practice: Eating Disorders

Join a panel of paediatric psychiatrists, paediatricians, GPs, psychologists and school counsellors to get an update on the optimal management of children with eating disorders.


RACGP is leading this free online event that will teach GPs how to take a multidisciplinary approach to manage eating disorders in children. The event will be chaired by Brisbane GP, Dr Aaron Chambers, and include the following presenters:

  • Dr Sam Catania, Medical Director of the Eating Disorders Program at Children’s Health Queensland.
  • Dr Penelope Prasad, Acting Director of Paediatrics at Hervey Bay Hospital.
  • Dr Kiera Buchanan, founding director of Centre for Integrative Health.

Some of the expected learning outcomes of this Webinar include:

  • Learning how to recognise a child presenting to general practice with signs or symptoms of an eating disorder.
  • Understanding the benefits of a multidisciplinary approach to managing a child with an eating disorder.
  • Learning how to identify when to refer a child to other medical and allied health professionals.
  • Recognise some of the common myths and misconceptions around eating disorders in young people.
