After a serious accident in March 2009 requiring a long hospital stay and intensive, ongoing rehabilitation, Dr David Hurley has been reappointed and has resumed his role as the clinical lead of the WA Health Diabetes and Endocrine Health Network.

Prof Tim St Pierre, Chief Scientific Officer for WA biotech company Resonance Health and Prof of Physics at UWA, has received an ATSE Clunies Ross Award from the Australian Academy of Technical Sciences and Engineering. This recognises his development of FerriScan MRI interpretive technology for measuring liver iron overload.

Janice Gardner has been appointed Group Finance Manager at St John of God Health Care’s Perth head office. She has previously been head of finance, customer support services for Westpac, BT Financial Group, as well as working for Asgard Wealth Solutions.

Ms Shellee Chapman has been appointed Director of Workforce Development at St John of God Hospital Subiaco. She most recently worked on the human resources portfolio at Amana Living, which followed a period at Barabara Mines.

Dr Peter Rudolph has been appointed to the board of aged and community care organisation Amana Living. Dr Rudolph has 20 years experience in geriatric medicine and is based at Mercy Hospital, Mt Lawley.

The Telethon Institute for Child Health Research has appointed four new board members: Emeritus Prof Margaret Searles, former Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor of UWA; Mr Jeff Dowling, Managing Partner of Earnst and Young Western Region, with 30 years experience in energy, mining and insurance; former WA Health Minister Jim McGinty; and Prof Rhonda Marriot, Faculty Dean of Health Sciences at Murdoch University.

Former Federal Minister for Swan Mr John Wilkie has been appointed Chief Executive of the Confederation of Meningitis Organisations, which is based in Perth.

Chief Justice Mr Wayne Martin has been appointed the first patron of The Lung Institute of Western Australia. LIWA is affiliated with QEII and UWA as a not-for-profit research organisation that has notables Prof Philip Thompson and Prof Louis Landau on the board.

Ms Jenny Allen has been appointed to the board of Suicide Prevention Australia. Jenny is currently also the CEO of WA non-profit organisation Youth Focus.
