Anne Donaldson has been appointed director of the Office of Health Review – our State's health and disability services watchdog. She is the former director of the South West Area Health Service's Communities First Program.

Two GPs featured in Australia Day Honours this year. Dr Joe Lubich received the Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for service to local government and to the community of Albany, and as a contributor to the WA health service. Dr Gregory Deleuil received the same award for his care of people with asbestos related diseases, and as a medical officer to the Defence Force.

Margaret Jones has been appointed Medibank Private's corporate business manager for WA and the Northern Territory.

Malcolm Parmenter is the new managing director for Independent Practitioners Network Limited, following the departure of Ralph Shreeve. The principal holding entity for IPN is Sonic Healthcare Ltd, which has loans to IPN of $10m to IPN payable during 2006. Mr Shreeve left the company with a $1.2m payout, which included $93,000 in share options and $375,000 cash bonuses for the 2003-2004 financial years. His salary sum for 2004-2005 included a $250,000 single payment for consideration of the change of ownership of IPN during 2004.

Darren Crawte has resigned as company secretary for Visiomed Group Limited.

Attadale Private Hospital CEO Ms Diane McKinnon has also taken on the reigns at Coastal Private Hospital, working with DON Ms Sandy Levis.

Community service by the Michael family has come to the fore with the appointment of Mr Ken Michael as new Governor General of WA – his brother Dr Con Michael is well known in medical circles.

Bruce Rathbone has been made State Manager of WA GP Network (state based office for WA Divisions of General Practice). Bruce Rathbone was the CEO of the Royal Agricultural Society of WA and his health background includes time with RFDS and AMSs.

Perth-based neurology research and developer, Neuro-Discovery Ltd, has entered into a research collaboration with CSIRO, to screen the CSIRO's Division of Molecular and Health Technologies chemical library to discover new connexion and pannexin drug candidates for the treatment of various neurological conditions.

Ms Lee Best, former CEO of Fremantle Kaleeya Hospital has been appointed CEO for Perth-based community service organisation Therapy Focus, a therapy and professional service provider that works to improve the quality of children's lives.
