RPH's head trauma surgeon Dr Sudhakar Rao has been appointed as WA"s first Director of Trauma Services. Dr Rao established WA's first registry of trauma data 12 years ago and has been instrumental in the planning of trauma services at the new Fiona Stanley Hospital.

Dr Steve Patchett, former acting Director of the WA State Forensic Mental Health Service, has been appointed as the new Executive Director of Mental Health services in WA. Dr Patchett has previously been the Area Executive Director of Mental Health for the North Metropolitan Area Health Service and for the Mental Health Division.

Dr Jane Cook has returned to Perth to take up the post of CEO for Family Planning WA. Jane was RACGP WA chair before moving to Canberra for a few years to take up a government post.

Dr Phil Matson, former Scientific Director of Hollywood Fertility Centre, has retired from the board of the Fertility Society of Australia. Dr Matson earlier moved out of clinical IVF to take up the role of Director of the Reproductive Biology Unit at Perth Zoo.

Dr Jane Deacon has stepped down as Deputy Chair of Osborne Division of General Practice, although she remains on the board as a director. Dr Steven Kan has taken her place as new Deputy Chair.

Dr Maree Creighton has been appointed as the Liaison GP at Princess Margaret Hospital.

Clinical Cell Culture (C3) chief executive Mr Bob Atwill will be stepping down after only 10 months in the job, with chief financial officer Mr Andrew Cannon to take his place. Mr Cannon will retain his CFO responsibilities as the company scales down operations.

Adj Prof Ken Fitch has been awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science by UWA for his more than 30 years service to the Olympic Games and sports medicine. At the same ceremony, Emeritus Prof Alan Morton received a Chancellor's Medal. Emeritus Prof Lou Landau was awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters.

Ms Natasha Mutch takes over from Debbie Rudderham as Marketing Manager at SJOG Hospital, Murdoch. Debbie has returned to Nulsen Haven.

Mr Alasdair MacKellar, pioneer of paediatric surgery in WA and a founding member of Kidsafe WA, passed away on 29th March.
