WA event: update on managing osteoarthritis of the knee

The Perth-based event is led by Arthritis & Osteoporosis WA, and is open to all AHPRA-registered GPs, Nurses, Allied Health Professionals. Only 8 spots left!


Arthritis & Osteoporosis WA (AOWA) is partnering with Body Logic Physiotherapy to present a transdisciplinary clinical education event for Health Professionals interested in osteoarthritis of the knee.

The free event will feature a panel of experts across the fields of orthopaedic surgery, rheumatology, physiotherapy, and dietetics. The topics covered in this education event include:

  • “Overview of OA Knee” Prof Hans Nossent, Rheumatologist
  • “Person-centred approach to managing OA” Dr JP Caneiro, Specialist Sports Physiotherapist
  • “Surgical Management of OA knee” Dr Daniel Meyerkort, Orthopaedic Surgeon
  • “The Role of Diet in the Management of OA knee” Dr Emily Calton, Clinical Dietitian

What will you learn?
Participants of this event can expect to gain multiple learning outcomes, such as

  • How to assess the efficacy and safety of various pain management strategies in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis.
  • How to identify when a patient with osteoarthritis of the knee should be referred for surgical opinion.
  • Being able to discuss different exercise options for a patient with osteoarthritis of the knee.
  • Apply up to date evidence to inform patient discussions about OA knee management, including modifiable risk factors.

The Osteoarthritis of the Knee education program is only open to registered GPs, Nurses, Allied Health Professionals. You will need your AHPRA number at the time of registration. Please call 9388 2199 if you are registered through a different professional entity.

When: Saturday 12th June 2021, 8am – 11:30am
Where: Wyllie Arthritis Centre, 17 Lemnos Street, Shenton Park WA
Registrations Close: Friday 4th June 2021. Currently there are only 8 places available. If the event is booked out and you are unable to attend, please register your interest by email and the organisers will explore the possibility of running the event again later this year or in 2022.
