WA Governor Dr Ken Michael has been named the patron of the Joondalup Family Health Study. Prof Fiona Wood continues as the medical patron of the study.

 

Mr Tommas Bonvino has taken up the role of CEO of M Medical Ltd.

Dr Michael Wooldridge has resigned as non-executive director of Advance Ocular Systems

Mr Stephen Belben has taken up the role of company secretary of Acuron Ltd following Ms Fiona Taylor's departure. Mr Belben is also a director.

Mr David Hung has resigned as non-executive director of Solbec Pharmaceuticals.

Mr Peter Jooste QC has been appointed director of Eastland Medical Systems following the departure of Mr John Picton-Warlow. Eastland have continued their growth through a number of acquisitions, including the purchase of UK healthcare products provider EMS Medical. EMS and Eastland had not previously been related companies.

WA Country Health Service Area Director of Nursing, Catherine Stoddart, was won a 2006 Churchill Fellowship Scholarship. She will use the ~$25,000 grant to travel to Canada and Alaska to explore how nursing issues are managed and overcome in these countries.

The Executive Director of Population Health and Ambulatory Care Services for North Metro Area Health Service, Dr Shirley Bowen, will study chronic disease programs in US hospitals after being awarded a Harkness Fellowship.

Dr John Glancy, the head of Mercy Hospital's Radiology department, has retired from SKG Radiology.

Mr Troy Street has joined PharmAust as Operations and logistics manager. He was formerly National operations manager with Cottman Australia.

Mr Gavin Rezos has stepped down as managing director and CEO of pSividia for personal reasons. Mr Roger Brimblecombe is acting CEO and executive chairman in his stead.

GP Dr Pat Docherty has retired after many years of service to the town of Mullewa. Mullewa is expected to become the second mid-west town (after Mount Magnet) to lose its resident GP service.

Mr Garry England has been appointed as the New CEO for Mercy Hospital.

Thirteen WA medicos were honoured with the Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal (HOSM) for their service in the wake of the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami by WA Governor Dr Ken Michael. They were: Mr Terry Jongen (Clinical Nurse Specialist, RPH), Dr Norman Gray (Emergency Physician, Fremantle Hospital), Dr Gavin Coppinger (Anaesthetist, Fremantle Hospital), Ms Muriel Leclercq (Clinical Nurse, RPH), Ms Karyn Boxshall (Registered Nurse, RPH), Dr Paul Van Buynder (Department of Health), Dr Sudhakar Rao (Surgeon, RPH), Dr Rene Zellweger (Orthopaedic Surgeon, RPH), Ms Rosie Clifton (Registered Nurse, Bridgetown District Hospital), Dr Andrew Robertson (Department of Health), Mr Jeffrey Williams (Registered Nurse, St John of God Hospital), Dr Mark Little (Emergency Physician, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital), and Ms Angela Jackson (Emergency Nurse, RPH).
