Free Webinar on COVID-19 vaccination program and 2021 flu vaccine schedule

The webinar, planned for Tuesday 9 February 2021, will provide a comprehensive overview of the national COVID-19 vaccination program and the 2021 influenza vaccination schedule.


The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) WA has partnered with the WA Department of Health to design a new webinar that will inform medical professionals about all the nitty-gritty details of the upcoming COVID-19 vaccine rollout, planned to start in WA later this month.

Among the topics covered in the webinar are details about the rollout and availability of doses, how the vaccine selection process works. The webinar will also cover details about vaccine safety.

During this webinar, experts will also discuss the influenza vaccination schedule for 2021, including topics such as the importance of influenza vaccination despite low incidence levels, compared to 2020. The webinar will also discuss how the COVID-19 vaccination efforts will influence the administration of influenza vaccines.

What can you expect to learn from this webinar? According to the official announcement, participants will learn to identify vaccine candidates currently available, as well as to gain an understanding about how clinics are selected for vaccine delivery and what constitutes a “priority group”. Participants will also learn about the requirements for post-vaccination observation, dosage numbers and storage.

The webinar is open to RACGP members and non-members and will be delivered by Professor Paul Effler, from the Department of Health Western Australia and facilitated by GPs Dr Ramya Raman and Dr Sean Stevens.
